Relationships
We encourage both celibacy and relationships equally, despite both being opposites. Below will be the reasoning for each, along with the dangers of each.
Relationships must be reported to the Council.
These rules do not apply to Initiates, read their section for specific rules.

Relationships
Relationships are defined as the way in which two or more people or things are connected, or the state of being connected. This topic has been debated upon throughout the Jedi Order's history. We like to take an approach that walks a line between both celibacy and being permitted to connect with another.
The Jedi Way is a way of life. Our relationships may differ from others. Some Jedi have theorized that relationships are important, as they are an embodiment of compassion. Whilst we do not fully support the ideology of unconditional love, as a Jedi has a very complicated life with many unforeseen variables, we support the theory of compassion being important. We would not consider a relationship born from lust (or passion). These would be strictly sexual encounters.
There are downsides to this walk of life. Being connected with someone so deeply, yet being able to remain detached is very difficult. You cannot become biased to your partner, which is difficult for anyone, Jedi or not.
We still have a few rules restricting the relationships you can conduct. They are similar with what you would expect from a professional workplace.

- You cannot have a relationship with a past, present or future student.
- You may not take someone you are in a relationship with on as a student.
- You cannot have a relationship with a Sith or dark-side practitioner.
- If the Council deems your relationship creates a bias situation, you may be asked to be removed from that situation (such as a mission).
Celibacy
Celibacy is defined as the state of abstaining from marriage and sexual relations. In the case of the Jedi Order this would also apply to romantic relations. Celibacy is something that many Jedi practice within the Order, as many view it a safer path to walk. It's the opposite end of the argument, one that could be considered a step to far.
Abstaining from romantic relationships can be difficult choice to make. Biological creatures usually have a basic instinctual drive to procreate. Fighting those urges at all times is difficult. However it is somewhat rewarding. You will not be walking a dangerous line between attachment and possession.
On the other side of things, you may lack the compassion you would gain from a relationship. Which is the difficulty in this choice. Both sides have equally good and equally bad choices. Some may argue that one is better than the other.

Dealing with Sith
"The Jedi Order disagreed so strongly with the purpose of the dark side of the Force that they distanced themselves from anything possibly related to the dark side. They also made it part of their mission to neutralize any and all practitioners of the dark side by whatever means necessary, though killing them was usually a last resort." -Dark side of the Force
"Many—especially those who had embraced the dark side—believed this to be a result of fear. Often those who held this belief looked down upon the Jedi and other lightsiders, criticizing them for cowardice and inaction." -Dark side of the Force
» It may seem heavy handed, but this is the approach we take on the Sith and any dark-side practitioners.
» You still require proof that they are a dark-sider, however, for a Jedi, this can be as much as detecting their corruption or witnessing the use of a dark-side ability.
» In most circumstances, you should not be letting dark-side practitioners roam freely. If there is a special circumstance, be sure to inform the Council as soon as possible.
» This is a core belief of the Jedi way. It out-weighs the consequences of breaking the laws of an individual world. If a law in contrary to this belief, the Jedi Order will work directly with the government to see that amended.
» In spite of this, a Jedi's primary qualities are wisdom and pragmatism; If challenging a Sith is likely to result in defeat, or great loss to oneself or others than can otherwise be avoided, it is the individual Jedi's responsibility to make the right decision.
